The Panzerjager I was an adaptation to the Panzer I Ausf.B chassis, involving the removal of its turret and fitting in its place a Czech built 4.7cm L/43 gun. The original prototype was built by Alkett in late 1939, and the vehicle served in all campaigns until 1943. In total 202 were converted in this way.
