The final version of the Rear Motor Optima,
the Optima Pro, is now reproduced in the original works color anodized finish!
Kyosho's 1/10 scale electric 4WD buggy, the Optima, debuted in 1985 and quickly established itself as a top racing model. The Optima was an ambitious model that adopted the same ladder frame and rear motor layout as the 2WD Scorpion series, and drove the front tires with a chain. The final evolution of the Optima series, the Optima Pro, was released in 1987. While the frame and drive system were the same as the Optima, the Optima Pro adopted a newly designed slim aerodynamic body and underbody, and the mounting positions of the battery and steering servo were revised to improve weight distribution, concentrating the weight in the center and achieving a significant improvement in performance. The Optima Pro is finally making a comeback after 37 years! The Optima Pro, which will be released as the 15th release of the Kyosho Vintage Series, has the same basic design as the other vintage series, but each part has been updated to suit modern R/C mechanisms and power sources. It will be released as a current model that includes equipment exclusive to the reprint version. The frame is the traditional ladder frame type. This model incorporates a belt-driven 4WD system, which was optional on the original, and is fitted with a more durable gearbox. The radio plate that mounts the battery and R/C radio is an exclusive type for the Optima Pro, and the main aluminum parts, including the front and rear oil dampers, have the gunmetal finish that was symbolic of works teams at the time. The body and underbody, which pursues aerodynamic performance, are also exclusive to the Optima Pro. The slim design makes it timeless. Although the original version was only on sale for about six months, the Optima Pro's popularity as the ultimate rear motor Optima makes the Kyosho Vintage Series even more vibrant with its revival.
- The 15th model in the Kyosho Vintage Series. A popular rear motor 4WD buggy has been reproduced using the latest technology.
- The stylish and aerodynamic body and underbody are faithfully reproduced to the original.
- The body is molded with cut lines for attaching the Javelin wing.
- The belt-type 4WD system has excellent drive efficiency and reliability. You can change to chain drive by using the separately sold chain (OT226).
- Unlike the original version, the pinion and spur gears use the 48-pitch type, which is the current standard.
- Equipped with a slipper clutch to support high-output motors. It also prevents gear damage.
- Equipped with a resin-molded radio plate that reproduces the original.
- The battery is fixed with a hook-and-loop fastener style. It is also suitable for modern battery sizes.
- The drive system is fully ball-bearing, using ball bearings throughout.
- The screws are hex-type, which are easy to work with and contribute to improving the looks.
- Various optional parts for the Vintage Series can be installed.
- Each part is compatible with the original model, and can be used as a repair part for existing originals.
This 4WD buggy has a rear motor layout and combines a highly-finished ladder frame with a resin radio plate made specifically for the Optima Pro. The servo and battery have been repositioned to improve maneuverability.
The combination of a cabin that minimizes air resistance and an aerodynamic wing-shaped underbody ensures stable high-speed driving.
It comes with a dial-type ride height adjustment mechanism modeled after the pressure damper that was a standard optional part in the 1980s. It also comes with fine selection springs with the optimal spring rate for the gunmetal case, which was the works color at the time.
The plastic front damper stays, which are the same dimensions as the Works Carbon Front Shock Stays (OTW108), achieve stable handling by setting the damper at a steeper angle.
The rear shock stay is made of high-strength extra-super duralumin (7075), which is crash-resistant and reliably supports the movement of the rear suspension. It is finished in the same chic gunmetal color as the damper.
The belt drive, which was an option on the original model, now uses a low friction type (OT260) to improve drive efficiency. By changing to the separately sold chain (OT226), you can recreate the same chain drive style as in the 1980s.
The injection-molded plastic radio plate is designed specifically for the Optima Pro. The battery and steering servo are mounted in a different position than the Optima to optimize handling characteristics.
Highly rigid hard suspension arms that can withstand rough driving are equipped as standard on the front and rear. These proven suspension arms are also used on the Turbo Optima, greatly improving driving stability.
The front swing shaft is a long type that is less likely to fall off even when the suspension makes a large stroke. This improves reliability and works perfectly with hard suspension arms.
